Moving Do's and Don'ts

• Do remember that summer is the busiest time of the year for movers. If you have a choice about when you move, try to avoid the busy time between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

• Do try to plan your move in the middle of the month and you will have a much higher chance of getting the exact day and time you would like to move in or out. The beginning and end of each month are always hectic and some moves are booked months in advance.

• Do make arrangements to move your household plants. Although we can move them on the truck, most plants are very sensitive to temperature, humidity, and light changes and do not travel well. However, we will give them all the care possible to keep them healthy.

• Do insure your belongings. Moving companies are required by law to carry insurance on the contents of our truck. This minimal insurance will not cover the replacement value of most of your furniture or other special items. You may wish to purchase replacement insurance or shipper declared value insurance. Our representative will gladly go over these options and the relevant costs with you prior to your moving day.

• Don’t wait until the last minute to make your arrangements. There are plenty of things to be done weeks prior to your move.

• Don’t ask us to move any hazardous materials. If you have any doubt please do not hesitate to ask in advance if we can move an item on our trucks. Items listed below are considered hazardous materials and can not be moved in our trucks: Sterno, Fire Extinguishers, Household Batteries, Matches, Aerosols, Chemistry Sets, Kerosene, Cleaning Solvents, Darkroom Materials, Gasoline, Ammonia, Pool Chemicals, Propane, Nail Polish, Motor Oil, Propane Tanks, Nail Polish Remover, Car Batteries, Fireworks, Liquid Bleach, Fertilizer, Charcoal, Paint Thinner, Lamp oils, Pesticides, Poisons (Weed Killer), Charcoal Lighter, Paints (latex & oil based)
